Australian doom duo Divide and Dissolve announce new Ruban Nielson (Unknown Mortal Orchestra)-produced album Systemic and release new single 'Blood Quantum'. The follow up to their critically acclaimed debut album Gas Lit, the new record is set to be equally impactful. The new single blends moments of eerie woodwind starkness with monolithic riffs, all coming from powerful political stance, guitarist and saxophonist Takiaya Reed explains,"This music is an acknowledgement of the dispossession that occurs due to colonial violence. The goal of the colonial project is to separate Indigenous people from their culture, their life force, their community and their traditions. The album is in direct opposition to this." The band make music that honours their ancestors and lays bare the crimes of colonists, highlighting how those systems are still palpably present and violently enforced; it is music for Black and Indigenous liberation.
